It was relatively easy to sign up except if you are concerned about privacy, this site is not for you. They ask for an "affiliation" so a work or a school email is required. And with that, NuRide practically knows everything about you. This, in turn, helps them get "sponsorships" and rewards based on the demographics they serve.
If you "walk, bike, telecommute, carpool, vanpool, take a subway, train, bus, ferry or even work a compressed week," it's quite easy to rack up points! But the quality of rewards you will qualify for might vary depending (I guess)on your region, age, etc.
Dough Roller lists more sites for commuters looking to share a ride.
